“That was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was filled with excitement for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was completely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the first time an NFL owner has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples include:
- Panthers proprietor Tepper was penalized $300K for tossing a beverage at fans in January 2024.
