Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
